About Us - The Bush House Bed & Breakfast

You'll start to relax and unwind the moment that you arrive at The Bush House Bed and Breakfast, Plaistow, West Sussex.

A warm welcome awaits at our home in the beautiful rural Sussex village of Plaistow, along with a cup of tea, some homemade cake and an opportunity to enjoy the peace of the country and the charm of our village.

Plaistow, in the north west corner of West Sussex on the Surrey county border, is a quintessential English village. There is a Village Green, a pond, a pub and a Church all in the centre of the village.

From our independent guest annexe, with large comfortable beds you can lie in and enjoy the peace before getting up to take your time over a leisurely West Sussex cooked breakfast, made with the finest of local ingredients.

The eggs come courtesy of our free range chickens, the sausage and home cure bacon from Lee House Farm, and the preserves are all homemade. For a lighter or vegetarian option try our homemade muffins and fruit smoothies.

Stroll around the acre of garden, take shade in our small orchard, explore the wild flower meadow or sit and relax on the terrace... you may see a hot air balloon drift past on a summer's evening, or a badger collecting plum windfalls on an August evening.

Take a wander along the local public footpaths, and you could see dairy cows, llama, rhea, highland cattle, pigs or sheep in the fields surrounding our house.

Time then to explore what West Sussex has to offer. See our Things To Do page for lots of ideas.

The Bush House is ideally located to visit all of the market towns and the beautiful West Sussex countryside. There is a Farmers Market somewhere in West Sussex every week, providing the perfect chance to sample our local produce and to explore the local towns and villages.

This is wonderful walking and cycling country. There are several beautiful walks from the house and we have guidebooks and maps that you're welcome to borrow.

If you're coming for a special occasion we can arrange flowers or chocolates.

Come and discover why this part of West Sussex has been described as one of the most beautiful regions in Britain, and only one hours drive of London - though be careful, like us, you may end up not being able to leave!

We look forward to welcoming you at The Bush House Bed and Breakfast, West Sussex for what is sure to be the first of many visits.

Elaine & Paul Allerton

 History of The Bush House

There was a public house, known as The Bush Inn, on this site since 1875.

In 1987, the property became the renowned vegetarian restaurant, "Clements".
When the restaurant owners retired, they converted the property to the family home, now enjoyed by the Allerton family.

... but hospitality runs thick and strong through the bones (or should that be bricks?) of this building, hence our bed and breakfast.
